There are eight members in our team. We met at least once a week on Wednesdays, and at most four times in one week when we prepare for our events. For every event we have different roles, everyone took part in planning the events and preparing supplies needed. We split the work between each other depending on what needed to be done so that all the work didn't fall on just one person. Usually we had 2-3 activities in our events, which means that at least two people were working together at all times to ensure everything got done for each individual activity. To make events easier we also welcomed other girls who wanted to volunteer or attend the events with us. We were disappointed that our big even was cancelled during the shutdown. We reconvene virtual through conference calls, despite intermittent Wi-Fi issues, to strategize the final three months of the project.
Civic engagement was key to ensure families of local communities were served. We hosted interactive activities and informational booth at the VEX Elementary and Middle School Robotics League. More than 35 teams (at least 10 students, coaches, their siblings and parents) will attend the competitions once a month for 5 months. They will visit our booth or workshop during their downtime. We want to express our deep appreciation to Girls Build, LA Promise, FIRST Lego League, and VEX robotics competition for supporting us. You have provided a platform of us to share our mission to promote healthy living to all generations. |
